The Raja's call

—
Rules reference
Raja 1 square any way. Never enters an enemy Durg zone — not even to escape check. The two Rajas may never stand on adjacent squares.
Mantri Any distance along a diagonal. He never changes square colour, so the square he enters on fixes which half of the board he can ever reach.
Rath 1 square any way, or any distance diagonally.
Ashva two squares one way and one across, leaping over anything in between.
Gaj any distance straight.
Sipahi 1 forward (2 on its first move), captures diagonally. The b- and h-file Sipahi may leap their own Durg on the first move.
Durg never moves. Rules its 3×3 zone.
Castling The Raja pairs with a corner Gaj. In K-i the Raja goes e→g and the Gaj i→f; in K-a the Raja goes e→c and the Gaj a→d. Neither may have moved, the squares between must be clear, and the Raja may not start in check nor cross an attacked square. The names come from the corner the Gaj starts in. Castling parks a Gaj on d or f — the very squares a Mantri needs to enter. And a Mantri entering on d or f forfeits that side's castling permanently, even after he leaves the square.
Durg zones Enemies cannot stop on an empty zone square. Sliders may pass through.
Taking the Durg destroys it, the zone dissolves, and your piece survives.
Taking anything else in a zone kills both pieces. The Durg lives on.
Mantri succession Lose a Rath and a Mantri arrives on a free c, d, f or g square of your choice — c and g are light, d and f dark. He cannot move on his first turn. If all four squares are taken he is lost for good.
The Raja's call Once four of your first-row pieces — Gaj, Ashva, Rath or Mantri — have fallen, your Raja may summon the Rani to a free c, d, f or g square — the same four the Mantri uses, so they compete for them. She moves in any direction, any distance. The call costs your whole turn, cannot be made while in check, and comes only once.
Stalemate is a draw, as in chess.
Draws threefold repetition · 30 moves without a capture or Sipahi move (adjustable in Settings) · insufficient material.
